New graphics and performance test

Not a lot of the things going on, except that more beta keys are being handed out over at the Battlefield Heroes site. One of those used it to check the performance of BF Heroes.

BF Heroes Benchmarking
If you are wondering how Battlefield Heroes will run on your system, you can head over to AMDZone and check out the performance test they have done with BF Heroes. It seems like the requirements will not be very high, and my guess is that if you can run Team Fortress 2 without problems, you will have no problems with BF Heroes.

New BF Heroes Graphics
There are new graphics, or wallpapers as I would call it over at the BF Heroes official site. Check them out, four more will be released soon.

Another Hands-On Preview

The site ripten.com have published a preview of Battlefield Heroes after playing it for a while at EA Studio Showcase. They where pretty happy with the game, which should be good news for all of us who haven’t been able to test the game with beta keys or other channels.

After choosing one of the two teams, and one of the classes - soldier, beefy gunner or commando, getting into the game was simple even for those who had never tried a Battlefield game before. You earn experience points for causing damage, which makes it possible even for the worst players to gain levels and unlockables.

They where especially impressed by the airplane, which allowed passengers on the wings. Running was a big slow, so obviously vehicles is encouraged. We will watch out for more reviews both from fans and game sites.

Beta Keys shut down the server

I don’t know why, but DICE reported that they got so many replies on the first beta key giveaway that the server went down. Didn’t they expect the fans to flush the site when the news about the content got out? With the internet and mobile phones I’m sure many thousands of people knew about this within minutes.

They will be adding more servers to prevent such issues in the future, so keep checking out their site and maybe you will be one of the lucky winners!

Beta Keys for Comments

As expected, a lot of people was disappointed by the recent news about the delay of BF Heroes. As a response, EA Dice has decided to give out more beta keys the next month. The way you get beta keys are a bit special thou, you get them for comments.

The keys will be given out to the first 20 commenters of news items on the BF Heroes-site, which will be posted twice a week the next month. This means about 160 lucky people will be getting keys. The news article announcing this has gotten more than 8000 comments so far, so you might have to camp the site quite much to be lucky enough to get one of these.

To check for news items, you go to this site. Remember to register right now, so you don’t have to do that when you see a new article.

Battlefield Heroes Delayed

We’re sorry to tell you that you will probably not be able to play Battlefield Heroes during this summer, unless you are very lucky to get into the beta. EA DICE has announced that BF Heroes will not be published until later this year, late 2008.

It seems like they are working to improve some features of the game, and are especially focusing on social networking aspects of the game. We will follow the game until it is released, so stay tuned for more information about what they are doing to improve the game, that is so important that we can’t play it for a while yet.

BF Heroes at Games Convention 2008

If you in Germany in august, or happens to live in Germany, and is a fan of Battlefield Heroes, I recommend visiting the Games Convention 2008 in Leipzig. DICE has announced that they will be attending, and will give you the visitors of the convention the opportunity to play Battlefield Heroes.

The convention is on August 21.-24., and located in Leipzig. More information can be found on the GC homepage.

System Requirements for BF Heroes

The folks behind BF Heroes have posted some information about what kind of computer you must have to be able to play BF Heroes. I’m pleased to announce that the requirements is very low compared to most games today. This is probably one of the things they have thought about when developing the game, to give access to as many players as possible without having to buy a completely new computer.

Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista
CPU: 1.0 GHz
RAM: 512 Mb (1Gb on Windows Vista)
Video Card: 64Mb DirectX compliant video card with at least pixel shader 2.0 support
Hard Drive space: 1Gb of space is required to install the game
Internet connection: 256kbit Cable/DSL connection

Now the people behind the game has made some special editions of the theme to be used for ring tones. They are totally free as long as you know how to add them to your phone.
